ABOUT THE VIDEO MAKERS
Director: Lina HoshinoLina Hoshino, an award-winning media artist, recently returned from Canada's Banff Centre Artist Residency program where she met Haruko Okano for the first time. She is commited to portraying women of color as role model and saw that Haruko's story needed to be told. In the past, Lina has directed several video works including "Kagero" and "The Story of Margo." She has also co-produced a number of monthly broadcast shows for "HellaVision," a San Francisco based progressive youth-oriented video coalition . Lina is also a co-founder of Tactile Pictures where she has led the creative effort in wide range of new media projects including web sites, presentations, games, animations, and CD-ROMS. Her videos have been screened in festivals around the world including: Mill Valley Film Festival, Umeå International Film Festival(Sweden), San Francisco Film Arts Festival. "Story of Margo" received a Bronze award at 1997 Tokyo Video Festival. She also designed a theatrical back drop for Icicle production, "Along for the Ride." She studied painting and sculpture at Carnegie Mellon University, then taught English in Japan for a year before moving to San Francisco to start Tactile Pictures.
